Virtual Visit Instructions

Our virtual visits are easy and convienent. No app download is required.

1) Prepare for Your Video Visit

If your virtual visit is for the evaluation of a suspicious spot or a rash, we request that you submit a photograph (or several) of the area you would like us to check and email them to hello@mycorederm.com with your name and appointment date and time. High quality photographs are critical to help us evaluate your concern. Click here for a short tutorial on how to take a high quality photograph.

A few minutes before the scheduled session:

  • Make sure that the device you are going to use for your visit has a good connection to your internet or WiFi service.
  • Make sure that you are in a well-lit room where the provider will be able to see you and hear you.

2) Open the Message From Your Provider and Verify Your DOB

  • Tap the link to the text message from your provider that included instructions about your video visit.

  • From here, you will verify your DOB before you can join the visit. You will only need to do this if you are new to Klara, or it’s been 30 days since you last verified your DOB.

  • Tap the link that says “Your Video Visit.”

3) Open Message to Join the Visit

  • You may receive a text like this at the time of your visit, or just before your visit with your provider letting you know they’re ready to begin. Tap the link in the text to join the visit from your phone.

  • Tapping the link to join the visit will open a new browser window. You’ll need to use the following browsers for the video visit to work successfully:

    • iPhone or iPad: Use a Safari browser.

    • Android: Use a Chrome browser.

You can also join the visit on your computer by going to patient.klara.com (see article: “How do I join a video visit from my computer?“).

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) About Teledermatology

What is Teledermatology?

Teledermatology refers to the delivery of dermatologic care through virtual visits, using secure digital technologies such as smartphones, computers, and telemedicine platforms to evaluate, diagnose, and manage skin, hair, and nail conditions remotely.

What conditions are appropriate for a virtual visit?

Teledermatology is best suited for select conditions and follow-up care. Virtual visits work well for acne management (including isotretinoin follow-ups), medication refills, and treatment monitoring. Teledermatology may also be used as an initial screening visit to help determine whether an in-office evaluation is needed.

Teledermatology is not ideal for all concerns. Evaluation of new or changing skin lesions, full-body skin exams, new hair loss complaints, or conditions that may require dermoscopy, cultures, or biopsy are best assessed in person. In-office visits allow for direct examination, use of dermatoscopes, and procedures that cannot be performed virtually.

If you are unsure whether your concern is appropriate for a virtual visit, our office is happy to help guide you.

Can I use my insurance?

Yes. Medicare and many major private insurance plans may cover virtual visits. Coverage typically requires a live, real-time video visit and is subject to your specific plan’s benefits, eligibility, and medical necessity requirements.

Please note that coverage is not guaranteed. If your insurance carrier denies the claim for any reason, you will be personally responsible for the charges.

I have an office visit booked, can I switch to a virtual visit instead?

Possibly! Please call our office, and we can help determine if your visit is appropriate for a virtual video appointment.

I am not currently a patient of Core Dermatology. Can I use this service?

Yes, however, keep in mind that most new complaints require in-person evaluation. Please call the office (303-355-3000) to be entered into our system and schedule your visit.

🚨We Need Your Help!🚨

Please help your Core Dermatology physicians urge Congress to fight Medicare cuts.

Proposed Medicare cuts threaten access to skin cancer care. Washington officials are proposing deep cuts to Medicare payments for dermatology—cuts so severe they could force clinics to close and significantly reduce access to care. The result: longer waits, longer drives, and delayed skin cancer diagnoses, putting millions of older Americans at risk.
