VBeam Perfecta FAQs

What is the procedure used for?

VBeam Perfecta pulsed dye laser targets hemoglobin in the blood and therefore is useful in treating red areas, spots, and vessels.

What changes can I expect right after treatment?

Redness and swelling are normal reactions post-procedure and are most prominent during first 2-4 days.  If bruising occurs, it lasts an average of 7-10 days but can last up to 2 weeks in some cases.  The degree of swelling increases in proportion to the size of the area treated.   When will I be completely healed?

How many treatments are recommended?  How far apart?

Some spots will respond after one treatment, but often it can take 2, or sometimes 3, treatments to see optimal improvement.  Treatments are typically spaced 4-6 weeks apart.

How painful is treatment?

Pain 6/10.   Pain and discomfort are experienced very briefly during treatment but are not expected after treatment.  Most patients do not require any topical anesthetics.  In fact, we try to avoid application of topical anesthetic because it can constrict blood vessels, which can make treatment less effective.   Consider taking Tylenol extra strength about one hour before your treatment.

How long does the treatment last?

Small areas take only minutes to treat.   If treating larger areas like the cheeks and nose, you will be scheduled for at least 30 minutes, but the treatment will take 15-20 minutes, on average.

When can I expect to see the full results?

The full result of each treatment session will take 4-6 weeks to see.  Often, patients will see significant results after the first treatment and then progressive improvement after each additional treatment.
